Fall Harvest

Standard

In farming, fall harvest is a time for gathering the crops from the seeds planted in late summer. In life, fall harvest is a time for reaping the rewards for seeds planted earlier in the year.

Earlier in the year,  we made wishes and planted seeds of hopes and dreams in hopes of seeing them manifest later in the year.  Now, the time has come to reap the benefits of those seeds and the energy we’ve put into tending the garden. Now is the time to collect on those dreams, hopes, and wishes.  Maybe you wishes for better health, more friends, abundance in finance, or a new home.  Some might of dreamed of a relaxing vacation, passing exams, or an addition to the family.

I look back on the seeds I planted, earlier this year, and I can see the rewards of those seeds.  I wanted to spend more time with my daughter, travel, and grow spiritually.  I wanted a new job in a career loved and an increase in finance.  Well, I am now homeschooling my little one and we have been on several vacations, which included her getting her first stamp in her passport.  I have definitely grown spiritually.  I started my own business and nonprofit.  My finances are not where I want them to be but I know with time and patience they will get there.

See, the thing about the harvest is not all your seeds will grow and, sometimes, it may seems like there’s nothing there. But, if you look closely, you can find something to gather. Some hope or wish that surprisingly came true, no matter how big or small.  Or, some dream that is taking off, even if it’s just in the beginning stages.  Be proud of the energy and effort you’ve put into tending your garden and happily reap your rewards.

Don’t let the storms stop your growth

Standard

For the last couple of days, we’ve had storms here.  I feel it is a reflection of what’s been going on in my world lately. I haven’t written, in a while, because of inner storms.  I’ve had my gloomy moments when my brain is cloudy and I didn’t want to get out of bed, my lightning moments when just little things set me off and I am quick to strike back, and my thunder moments when I let things stir inside creating a rumble but never fully letting it go.

Even my daughter noticed the changes.  She tells me Mommy are you grumpy or Mommy don’t be grumpy.  One time I raised my voice and she said Mommy you yelled at me.  It wasn’t a yell, but from her perspective, it was  louder than I usually talk.

We all have storms in our life.  Some are self-created and some come from external forces.  Sometimes, these storms can catch up by surprise and turn our whole world upside down and cause us to stop and reflect on what’s really happening in our life. Sometimes, we see the storm coming but just can’t stop it.  Maybe we don’t need to stop it.  Maybe it’s coming as part of growth.  Yes, it may cause floods of tears or damage to our existing structure, but like all storms, it will pass.  Storms are a necessary part of life and sometimes they force us to make changes we don’t want to make.  But remember, a new day will come, the sun will shine again, we will adapt to our new circumstances, we will survive, and grow stronger.

When Your Well Runs Dry

Standard

Has your well run dry?  Does it seem as if  you are out of ideas, inspiration, or motivation? Does it seem like everything you do yields no results? Have you lost your flow?

Sometimes, in life, we push ourselves too hard until we have used up all our resources.  Creative and highly motivated people have a tendency to push themselves to the limit.  We get so excite about a new project or endeavor, and we pour everything we have into it until we have nothing left to give.  The flow of creativity has stopped and all is left is dust.

Fear not, for this may not be a bad thing.  This is could be the Universe’s way of saying it’s time to stop and take a break.  Forcing the issue will not get your more reward, recognition, or growth but only make you more frustrated. Often times, we are more focused on the dreams we haven’t reached,  that we forget to appreciate what we  have accomplished.   Now is the time to sit back, take stock, and enjoy the fruits of your labor.   When it is time, to put in work again, you will know and inspiration will start to flow. Until then, enjoy the resting phase and take pride and joy in what you have already created.

Don’t be afraid to walk alone

Standard

There comes a time  when you have to walk your own path.  There’s something inside that’s calling and you can’t ignore it any longer.  You realize that you don’t belong  in the world you have been trying to fit in for so long.  You know there is more out there and you have to find it.

It’s going to be scary at times.  Sometimes, you will want to  turn around and go back to the comfort and safety of your old life.  Other times, you will want to run and experience more because of the joy you feel inside.  Many times, you will feel like your life is stagnant and you are not accomplishing anything.  These are the times when you are learning the most.   These are the times when you need to really listen to that voice inside of you.

No one can walk this path for you.  Not everyone is going to see your passion or drive.  Not everyone is gong to understand.  All that matters is you do.  Don’t be afraid to walk alone.  It may be the best walk you’ve every taken.
