Follow the Leader

Standard

Stop it!  Stop letting others lead you to a place where you don’t want to be.  Whether it is a lover, family, friend, or boss.   Stop letting people make decisions for your life.  If you don’t want to do something, DON’T DO IT.  If you would rather spend the weekend at home, in your pajamas, eating tacos in bed, instead of going out with friends or family, DO IT.   If you want to simply work 9-5 and not strive to be a manager, then DO IT.

You are the only person who knows your needs, heart, and goals.  You are the only person who has to answer for the choices you make in your life.  You are the person who has to live with your decisions.  Stop playing follow the leader and become the leader.  Take control of your life.

Pics of the Week

Standard

Last week was such a beautiful week in NC.  The 70 and 80 degree weather spoiled us.

Paint Nite

Standard

Everyone needs a night off to just have fun and let their creativity flow.  I decided to try Paint Nite at World of Beer.  I was a little nervous at first. I am not a painter. I can barely draw a decent stick figure but I needed to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.

I swallowed my fears and jumped all in.  It was a great night and I met a lot of nice people.  Everyone was happy and encouraging.  I think I did pretty good for my first time and I look forward the next paint night.

I definitely recommend Paint Nite for anyone who is feeling creatively block, needs a night out, or just want to meet new people.  Check Groupon for deals or search for Paint Nite classes in your area.

Jill Scott @ DPAC

Standard

Last Thursday,  I had the pleasure of seeing Ms. Jill Scott at the DPAC. Let me tell you, this lady can sang!  I love her music and to see her live was AMAZING!!!  Her beautiful spirit filled the room, along with her gorgeous smile, and you could feel the energy surrounding her.

She took us on a ride with songs about love, breakups, independence, and romance.  The images she paints, with her poetry, makes you feel like you are living the songs she sings.

If you have not seen Ms. Jill in concert, please go see her.  It is an experience you will not forget.

Baby’s Day Out at Cameron Village

Standard

It was a beautiful weekend in Raleigh so I decided to take baby out to enjoy some sunshine.  We went to Cameron Village to see what was happening.  I love the shops because they are not the typical mall stores.  There are a lot of small business, boutiques, high end thrift shops, books stores, and restaurants. Great restaurants. Did I mention I love to eat more than shop?

Bevello was having a great sidewalk sale on summer clothing.  Dresses originally priced at $100 or higher were $30 and below. Shirts, skirts, handbags, and scarves were $20 and below.  It was baby’s day out so I resisted the urge to buy anything.  It was hard but I didn’t give in to temptation.

Uniquities has great jeans and dresses.  I found a cute tribal print that I admired from afar.

If you are looking for an upscale consignment boutique FIFI’s is the place to go.  This place had some awesome pieces and the prices were not too crazy.  That yellow dress in the window was calling my name but I didn’t answer.

My last stop was Ivy and Leo.  They had a great selection of summer clothes in beautiful bright colors.  I did go in and take a peek at the dresses and the orange one in the window is definitely on my “to get” list.

I spotted a video store on the way back to the car.  I have not seen one of these in a long time.  The only thing around my way is Red Box.  Baby was sound asleep by the time we made it back to the car.  I guess all that window shopping was too much for her.  Plus, the humidity was no joke.  You can see by the glares on my pics, the sun was out in full force.  I almost thought it following us…lol
